The literary meaning of Vanaprastha is going into the forest. It is also a stage of our life according to Indian culture. In the old age the kings forego their daily life and goes into the forest to live their rest life.
Vanaprastha Foundation, Sinnar, Dist.- Nashik, Maharashtra, India is a registered NGO with 80G especially founded by the persons who have only girl child or no child. The main aim of Vanaprastha Foundation is to make a “Vanaprastha Ashram”. But very firstly the founders realized that if there is no Vana ( forest ) then how will be Vanaprastha. That’s why the TEAM decided to make Vana and started plantation since 2017. To the end of 2020 the TEAM has planted more than 3500 saplings, most of them are trees now. We have planted the Japanize Miyawaki Forest Plantation, first time in our District, on the mountain with making some changes into the actual method of Miyawaki for the mountain sloppy area. Our target is to make reforestation in the area.
Our main aim is the “Vanaprastha Ashram”. It is also in progress and we hope that the primary work of documentation will be complete till to the end of next year. But still our work is going on. From 2017 we are providing notebooks and school kits to the needy student of the tribal area. We are providing First Aid Kits to the schools and also the medicine for the first aid kits. We are also make availability of Sanitary Napkins for the Asha Health Workers. We are also working with the Pani Foundation as volunteer to fight against drought. In our area there are so many wild animals, birds wondering through the jungle area which is nearby of us. We made permanent water sources for them by using the air valve leakage of the water supply line.
We have the governing body but only for the government documents. We all are equal, we all are just VOLUNTEERS of Vanaprastha Foundation. Our volunteers are from different sectors. Mostly all have their busy work schedule. Although they work two to three hours daily in the early morning ( Shramadana ). The BJS (Bhartiya Jain Sanghatna) Sinnar Branch, The Toofan Aalaya Group – Sinnar is our associate team in Shramadana.
